Welcome to
The Patch in Potterne
Who Are we?
The Patch in Potterne is a Community Interest Company formed by passionate locals who want to turn the former Potterne village school into a vibrant, community hub to host activities for all ages.
Why were we formed?
When we heard that the local school building was up for sale with the potential to be bought by developers, we knew we couldn't lose such an iconic village landmark. Then the opportunity arose to purchase the school at a staggeringly low, community asset price.
What do we want to acheive?
Our aim is to buy the old school, convert it into an exciting new community hub to provide activities and opportunities for local and surrounding communities of all ages, such as:
A community tearoom offering affordable fare
Free cooking classes & meals for disadvantaged children
Performance space for auditions, music and dance
Display space for art, local history and village archives
Conference & workshop facilities with break-out rooms
IT and broadband Wi-Fi provision
Office rental for professionals and small businesses
Village car parking amenities
Future installation of electric vehicle charging points
How are we going to achieve this?
Raising money is a real challenge in these economic times, and we have yet to raise sufficient funds. Nonetheless our purchase offer has been accepted by the vendors, while solicitors await our instructions. The new government has put on hold our substantial grant application to the Community Ownership Fund - we await more information in the 30 October Budget Statement.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all the donors, businesses and grant-making trusts for their contributions so far: THANK YOU!
Phase 2 of our fundraising will be in aid of refurbishment and first-year running costs, by reaching out to more donors.
You are most welcome to join us in this project and would love you to be part of the team. Come join us!
